LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – When the Hotel Nevada opened back in 1906 at One Fremont Street, it really signaled the birth of downtown Las Vegas.

Now more than 100 years later, the owners of the hotel, which is now known as the Golden Gate, want to bring it back to its glory days.

The owners are planing an expansion which will include a 35,000-square-foot, five-story luxury tower with 16 hotel suites, including two penthouses on the fifth floor.

In addition to its new tower and suites, the Golden Gate’s boutique hotel features 106 recently remodeled rooms with a vintage Vegas ambiance.

The casino floor will also be extended

and a new high-limit gaming pit will feature the casino’s signature dancing dealers — a modern throw-back to flappers from the roaring 20s.

A new lobby will display artifacts, such as a 1906 Kellogg telephone and original gaming ledgers from 1907, from the hotel’s notable past and the property will boast three bars.

And, of course, it will still offer its famous shrimp cocktail — the “Best Tail in Town” — which the company introduced to buy cheap viagra online the casino scene in the 1950s.

Renovations are scheduled for completion by 2012.
